First Live Performance Gig

Shot my first rock concert gig last week. It was loads of fun and exciting to try and capture the moments.

This photo i edited in B&W because the lighting was just awful. An orange light was placed on the band from the right and a blue from the left. No matter what, even after colour correction the skin tones didn't line up.

This photo was taken with the bounce card extended on the Nikon SB-900 Speedlight and flash aimed up at ISO 3200. Taken with a D700.

Bathtub Shoot

The last creative shoot we did took place in a beautifully designed bathtub. The bath tub it self looked like something out of a movie, and once we added bubbles (dish washing liquid and Body Shop green stuff).

We light this by booming a Lastolite 24 x 24 inch Ezybox Softbox from above and a 45" Westcott Satin white umbrella for fill. Lighting equipment consist of 2 SB-600s and 1 SB-900. They were all controlled by Nikon's CLS system.

This shoot was a tricky one where keeping the camera out of the water along with myself was difficult. It took some time to figure out the angles and lenses needed but over all it was a successful shoot. The high key look suits it, plus based on the size of the room we didn't have much flexibility.

Touch ups were kept to a minimum because the light was so soft and to the beauty of the models. I can't wait to do it again. You can find the rest of the photos on either www.flickr.com/photos/tishures.

It's all in the basement and it works great, but it comes with a side of curse words.

DIY Softbox Grid

Bought construction paper about a week ago and finally found time to create my DIY grid spot. I took on Strobists method with a common factor of 3"x3". it worked perfectly....after 3 hours.

2000 Views on Flickr!

Couldn't of done it with out my sister and her patience to pose for me. I wish all models and subjects were just like her.

Right now, even tho i have 3 speedlights, I'm trying to stick to one, maybe 2 at most because once you have to many lights out there you get confused. I had a shoot last Thursday where i did exactly that, i had all three out there and it was a mess. The Nikon D90 only allows you to control 2 groups so have 3 lights isn't too easy to control.

Family's First Digital Camera

My family's first digital camera! It was there for my little sisters birth and infancy but since then ceased writing to the card. It was wonderful, it even took tiff files.

Get It Right in Camera

Nothing is better than getting it right in camera. It saves you time when you download the images to your computer and a sense of reward is felt. This one taken by my little sister.

Strobist: SB-600 shot through umbrella on light stand at about 5ft. The flash was triggered by the on-camera flash.

Welcome the Watermark

This image above is sporting my brand new, hot off the press watermark. The photo is of my work horse and beloved Nikon 18-200 VRI. The images was taken with a SB-600 shot through an umbrella.
It's time to protect my work.
